Sight Seeing in Santiago, Chile

Updated: Sep 17, 2019

This past February I took the trip of a lifetime to #SouthAmerica. I just graduated in May of 2016 and decided what better time to #travel the world than now. I finally have some money in my pocket, the #travelbug and more importantly, the #PTO at work.

My boyfriend and I had been wanting to take a trip for some time now. Being that we are from the #midwest and were traveling in February, we decided it was important for us to find somewhere warm. That's how we came across South America as a destination since they were experiencing their summer months at that time. As we did more and more research while reading countless #travelblogs we decided on a few cities and countries to stop in throughout our trip.

As I mentioned, it was February. In the #midwest. And anyone familiar with the Midwest knows the weather here this time of year is dreadful. As luck would have it, we got hit with a massive snow storm the day before takeoff. This lead to a whole slew of countless flight cancellations and delays. Just one day (plus a few hours) later we finally departed on the trip of a lifetime.

The first stop on our trip was to #Santiago, #Chile. Sadly, we only budgeted for two-ish day's in Santiago with the hopes to visit a handful of cities while in South America so our time here was short. We missed out on our oportunity to #travelwithaninsider on a tour of the city through #viatortours so we spent the day walking around to explore the new city.

We stayed at the Hotel Presidente Suites Santiago which was beautiful. It was in a quite part of town, but not a long walk to the city center and I felt safe the whole time. The staff was wonderful and the rooms we're very nice.

On our first day after walking around the town for a bit we went to Barbazul for dinner and drinks. The atmosphere was fun, and the drinks were great! We, of course, had to try the #piscosour, a traitional beverage on Chile.

The next day we left early in the morning for our trip to Valparaiso, Chile. #Valparaiso was one of the most unique and beautiful cities I have ever been to. If you are ever given the chance, I highly recommend it. Check out my thoughts on Valparaiso, Chile here!

Once we got back from our trip to Valparaiso, we went to eat at this cute little cafe across from our hotel. We walked past this cafe so many times and kept talking about how cozy it looked so we figured we must try it out before we head on our way to Pucon, Chile later that night.
