Medellin, Colombia

We spent the weekend in Medellin and loved exploring this beautiful city! It's amazing how diverse each city we've been to within Colombia has been. Nested between the mountains, Medellin was such a beautiful place to spend some time in! You can read about some of our go to spots below!

Where To Eat:

  • Agua Fresca - We stumbled upon this restaurant on accident, but were not disappointed. I was OBSESSED with the decor inside! It was a Mexican themed restaurant and their tacos were to die for! I got the fish taco's and I'm so glad I did. They were delicious! It was also a very reasonable place, not expensive at all!

  • Toucan Cafe - We stopped here after breakfast on Sunday. It was a cute little cafe! We each got the lemonade, but they also had various coffee's and pastry options. You can also book tours through this cafe!

Where To Drink:

  • Medellin Beer Factory - Medellin Beer Factory was a cute spot right next to a park. With great views, good beer and yummy food you can't complain! We stopped here for some beers and snacks after a morning exploring the city!

  • Patrick's Irish Pub - We stopped here Sunday morning to watch the Football game! It was fun to be surrounded by a bunch of people cheering for the game as well! There were even a few people from Chicago!

What To Do:

  • Parque Arvi - Arvi is located up at the top of a mountain. We took the train from the neighborhood we were staying in to the Metro Cable station, then rode that up to the park. The park was a beautiful spot with amazing views. We weren't able to do a guided tour because they had none in English so it might be good to look into guided tours online ahead of time!

  • Christmas lights - These Christmas lights are the reason we came to Medellin. There some of the largest displays in the world! It was amazing to see, but it was also super crowded! We took the train here as well and it was jam packed! It was also pouring rain, but we still had a great time. We saw the lights in Parque Norte, but they also have a large display down by the river!

  • Parque Poblado - Poblado is the neighborhood we were staying in and we found this park while walking to get something to eat. There's some nice spots to sit and even better views making it a wonderful spot to relax!

  • Metrocable - The Metro Cable is what we used to get to Parque Arvi, but I would recommend trying it out even if you're not heading to the park. It provides some of the best views of the city from above, and was one of the highlights of my trip!

Where To Stay:

  • Cinco Siete Cuatro - We found this spot on AirBnB for just over $40 a night! It turned out to be a great hotel. The rooms were really nice and it had breakfast included! We also really liked the neighborhood it was in. Bars and restaurants in the area were very walkable! They also had complimentary breakfast in the morning and called us a Taxi to the airport on Sunday! Not to mention they gave us an umbrella when we were heading to the Christmas lights and that was a life saver!

Overall, we really enjoyed our short trip to Medellin. We wish we could have done more!

If you've been to Medellin, or are planning to go we would love to hear from you!
