Poking around Pucon, Chile

Updated: Sep 17, 2019

We traveled from Santiago, Chile to Pucon Chile by Buquebus. Getting from point A to point B was probably the toughest part of the trip to plan. We thought about renting a car to drive, taking the bus, flying and had the hardest time getting it all to work out. We were determined to do so and eventually found a bus that would eventually get us down to Pucon.

Pucon is a cute little town surrounded by lakes further south in Chile. To me it seemed like a weekend getaway for the people of Chile. It was very small, you could easily walk from one end to the other in no time. There were tons of cute shops, restaurants and activities to do ranging from water sports, hiking, horse back riding and so on.

We ended up staying in a cute little Hostal, The Hostal French Andes, which made me nervous at first being that it was my first time not staying in a hotel, but it turned out to be a great, affordable option.

We spend a good amount of time exploring the area, shopping and diving in to all the restaurants.

The big excursion in this city for us was Termas Geometricas. The tour we chose picked us up from a central location in the town (again everything here is walk-able). We then were driven out to the site and given a set amount of time to explore on our own.

We were so surprised by how big it was. It felt like you could walk and walk forever until you finally reach the end of the path that leads you to a waterfall.

As you walk along these red pathways there are different pools on each side of you that you are free to hop in. It was extremely relaxing.

As time went on we decided to grab a bite of food before getting on the bus to head back to Pucon. There is a little cafe there with pizza and other snacks as well as drinks and lots of water to keep you hydrated after the hot spring!

As our time in Pucon came to an end we packed up our bags to travel out of Chile and into Argentina to visit Bariloche. Check out our thoughts on Bariloche Argentina Here!
