Tulum, Quintana Roo Mexico

At the end of April we took a trip to #Tulum with some of our friends from college. Tulum is just an hour south of Cancun, but it has a totally different feel!

Nate and two of our friends, Jake and Jason, went down on a Saturday and I met them there on Sunday. Saturday and Sunday they spent their time enjoying the all inclusive drinks and food while laying out at the pool and exploring the beach. They made some friends while playing volleyball and water polo from all over including the UK, and Canada.

I arrived Sunday evening, I was able to spend an hour or two at the pool, then we went and got ready for dinner at the hotel. We were staying at the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum. It was huge, there were five restaurants, seven bars and three big pools. The hotel had a trolley system with different lines to get you to different areas within the resort because it was that big. For most of the restaurants you have to make a reservation ahead of time so I would do that the first day you're there to be sure you get in!

The next morning Jake, Nathan and I went into town to go see the pyramids. We looked into different tour packages but decided to just take a taxi there to save some time and money. It worked out well! We were able to go on our own time, explore the town, take our time at the pyramids, walk down by the beach and then when we were ready to head back we got in another taxi and it was super easy. There are taxi's all over so you don't have to worry about not being able to get back.

The pyramids were amazing. It was especially unique that they were right on the ocean. It was beautiful with a nice sea breeze!

Just south of the Pyramids was a public beach. We walked down there after we were done by the pyramids. There were some restaurants, but the water had a lot of seaweed along the shore so we didn't stay too long. Despite the seaweed, it was still SO beautiful!

After we took the taxi back to our hotel, we decided to explore some of the other pools and area's in the resort. We took the trolley down to another area which had a nice pool but most importantly it had the best beach access we've seen in that area. It was clear of all the seaweed, the water was warm and there were fish swimming all around us!

The rest of our time was mainly spent by the pool. We enjoyed talking with the other people staying at the resort and hearing their stories. It was also fun to see all the other animals around that we don't see back home, like all the lizards! There was a dolphin pool inside the resort where you could swim with them and be a "trainer for the day". We didn't participate, but it was fun to watch!

The trip went by quick, but it was so much fun! I definitely recommend Tulum to anyone looking for a relaxing, #tropical vaca! You can see more photo's and videos from our trip below!
