Mendoza was the last city on our journey but definitely one of the best. Being the home of some of the best #Malbec wines in the world did not disappoint. We stayed at the Huentala Hotel which had the funkiest elevator and was just steps to the city center. The hotel was nice and half of it was actually a casino. Mendoza was shockingly full of Casinos.
Let's be honest though, the real reason you go to Mendoza is for the wines. We booked a winery tour through Trout & Wine Tours which was phenomenal. They picked us up at our hotel, took us to four wineries, and then brought us right back to our hotel.
The tour started at the Alta Vista Winery. This was a great way to start the day and get to know a new set of people from our tour group. We became pretty close with a couple from Australia and ended up going out with them that night.
The second stop on our list was Bodega Renacer. This winery had an exceptional landscape and the perfect view of the mountains. There were so many quaint areas on their property.
Our third stop was Casarena Bodega. This winery was exceptional. It was also the winery where we got lunch which may have been key since we had been wine tasting all morning!
The food they gave us looked like a work of art, you almost didn't want to eat it! It was all delicious.
The fourth and final winery of the day was Mendel Wines. The tour of this facility was fascinating and a great way to end our day.
At the end of all this wine tasting we took a much needed nap to get back on our feet. We ended up getting dinner with the couple we had met from Australia on our wine tour. The waiter was exceptionally nice, he took us to the wine cellar where we were able to pick out our bottle for dinner. Afterwards we went to the casino and lost what money we had left. Fun Fact, Mendoza get's rain only 60 days a year and that night happened to be one of them!
The next day we packed up our bags and headed home for good. South America did not disappoint. I would go back in a heart beat and I urge you all to do the same!
