March might have been my favorite month here so far! We wen't to an awesome rooftop bar in Roma Norte called Balmori. We had dinner and a few drinks. I definitely recommend the Tuna Tostadas, they were delicious!
The next night we went to an amazing rooftop restaurant that overlooks the Soumaya Museum called Bros. It had delicious food with an even better view! I got the clam chowder soup which I've been craving for a few weeks and it did not disappoint!
Early in the month we went to see the #monarchbutterflys who migrate here in the winter. We were there one of the last weekends they would be in the area so there wasn't as many as there usually would be but it was still amazing to see so many in one place. The pictures do not do it justice!
As part of the tour to see the monarch butterfly's we stopped at Valle de Bravo which is like "the Hampton's" of Mexico City. It was a beautiful town we had no idea was even there. We spent a few hours touring the town. I would definitely recommend making a day trip here if you're ever in the area. It has so much to offer!
Nate's family arrived on the 9th which started about a week and a half of our family visits showing them all around our new home! We started their visit by grabbing dinner and drinks in Roma. The place we got drinks was called Blanco Colima. Blanco Colima is an awesome restaurant/bar that's inside what looks like an old house. It's beautiful on both the inside and outside.
The next day we spend the first half showing them around Condesa and Roma. We started with Breakfast at El Moro for #Churros and Coffee.
We gave them a walking tour of the area through the parks and got lunch at El Pescadito. Some of the best Fish Taco's you will get in the area for cheap too! After lunch we walked to Bosque de Chapultepec to show them the park and do a tour of the castle.
Afterwards we got drinks at Lardo to kill some time before the boys went off to a Lucho Libre match. While the boys were watching that, the girls went over to one of my favorite places here, Condesa D.F. for more drinks on the roof top.
After, we got dinner at Nonna which was delicious and then we called it a day. The next day half the group went to tour the pyramids while the other half did a walking taco tour we found on #AirBNB. Our tour guide was amazing. He spoke English, had so much knowledge and knew so many people and things in this city! We not only had so many great tacos, but he walked us through a traditional food market and let us try some of the native fruits. Afterwards he told us about a nearby handmade market called La Ciudadela to do some souvenir shopping which was such a great recommendation. We went back again with the larger group!
Once we were done shopping we met up with the larger group for coffee while we waited for Nate to get back for dinner. We went to a cafe I've been dying to go to since we got here called Isabella Cafe. It's such a cute girly cafe with flowers everywhere and pink neon signs. A very photogenic spot I knew the girls would love!
My parents arrived the next afternoon. We spent their first day taking a Double Decker bus tour of the city. We rode the bus all the way to Zocalo where we got off to do some walking. We toured the cathedral and the pyramids then went to get some drinks at El Balcon Del Zocalo, one of our favorite spots here.
Afterwards we hopped back on the bus and took it towards Polanco for dinner. We ate at Cantina No. 20, which was a recommendation from Tomas, a guy at Nate's work. The next day was one I was most excited for, the boats in Xochimilco. These are boats that go up and down the canals, sort of like a gondola. It was only $1000 pesos (about $50 US dollars) for two hours for the entire trip no matter how many people you have on your boat. It's also BYOB and snacks! It's a great activity to do with a fun group of friends.
We got dinner that night at Sonora Grill, an amazing steak restaurant. We ordered a few of us some traditional tequila drinks which everyone seemed to enjoy!
The following day Nate's family left. My family and I had been feeling sort of worn out so we had a relaxing day where we did some shopping, I walked them around the neighborhood, we got dinner and called it a night because the next day we were headed to Cabo which you can read about HERE!
After our weekend in Cabo we followed up with a relaxing week and a half. I wasn't feeling the best and we were just exhausted! However, the last weekend in March we had John, Nate's boss from home, visit us! During the week nights we got dinner a few places including Sonora Grill because we loved it so much!
Friday, John and I worked together out of Postales De Cafe, a place I frequently go. We got lunch at El Pescadito and spent the evening getting drinks and dinner around the area including the Biergarten in Mercada Roma, and Blanco Colima.
The next morning we took him and our friend from Brazil, Christiane, back to #Xochimilco because I had so much fun when I took our families!
After the boats we took an Uber to Zocalo to show John the historic center. After walking around for a bit we went back to our favorite place, El Balcon Del Zocalo of course, but got dinner for our first time there. It was delicious, and of course the view was great!
Afterwards we took John to Condesa D.F. for some drinks and then called it a night because he had a long day of travels to come. March was a great month, but I can't wait to see what April has in store!
