48 Hours in Bogota, Colombia

We spent the weekend in Bogota, Colombia and had such a great time! It was such a beautiful, fun and lively city! We got to check out a few restaurants, bars and other cool spots around the city. You can read about our top spots below!

Where to Eat:

  • Casa Galeria - Casa Galeria is a cafe we stopped at during our walking tour. It's a fun colorful spot with amazing coffee, pastries and more. We stopped there to try Chicha, a fermented beverage found all around Latin America which was surprisingly yummy! It had a similar taste to apple juice. Plus we got to keep the cup it was served in which will make a great keepsake!

  • Black Bear - Black Bear is a spot we went to for lunch with our friends Tomas and Rafa. Located close to Parque 93, this was about a 10 minute walk from our AirBnB. Here we ordered a bunch of small plates such as salmon, nachos, tacos, steak, pork and more. Every single plate was delicious! I especially loved the salmon. The interior was so cute with a long hallway of open glass letting in a bunch of natural light. I highly recommend this spot!

  • Click Clack Hotel - We were searching for a Sunday morning brunch spot and recieved a suggestion to try this spot. The Click Clack Hotel is such a fun looking hotel. Down the stairs from the lobby you walk right into the restaurant itself. Here you pay roughly $35 USD for all you can eat and drink brunch. With the brunch comes several different stations such as traditional Colombian food, an egg station, a bread and pastries station, crepes, fruit and a meat station. There's also a bar you can go up to and order your drinks. Everything was really good! It's a great option if you haven't had traditional Colombian foods before, this is a good way to try it. There was also a DJ there the whole time playing music! We highly recommend this spot.

  • Barra Chalaca - Barra Chalaca is a Peruvian restaurant next to Parque 93. We went here for lunch Sunday with Tomas and Rafa. The food was delicious, we got ceviche and it was very tasty!

  • Michelle Gelato - After lunch at Barra Chalaca, we went next door to Michelle for some Gelato. It was super yummy! A great option for those of you with a big sweet tooth!

Where to Drink:

  • El Mono Bandido - El Mono Bandido was probably our favorite bar we went to in Bogota. It had a super cool interior filled with wood, greenery and good music. We stopped here right after we landed Friday night. The beer was really good, but the experience is what makes this place stand out. When you get your menu, you're also given some 3D glasses which you need to read the menu. They also have these napkins with different questions on them which you can fill out and have your waitress send to another table. It was a great way to get people to meet one another! We saw so many tables interacting with eachother! We even got a napkin, but unfortunately we were about to head in for the night!

  • Bogota Brewing Company- Bogota Brewing Company is a brewery we've been seeing all over Colombia so we wanted to check it out in it's home city. The brewery we stopped at was right on the corner of Parque 93, but there were several other locations. We really enjoyed this spot, and recommend it for any and all craft beer lovers!

What to Do:

  • Free Walking Tour - We like to do the free walking tour in every city we visit. It's a great way to see all the important spots in the city with someone who knows what they're talking about. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting! Definitely recommend starting your trip here.

  • Parque 93 - We happened to be in Bogota durring Dia de las Velitas, a holiday where everyone grabs candles and lights them all together. Parque 93 had a large presence of people celebrating as well as a Christmas choir. It was super nice and very relaxing to sit in the park and watch all the festivities. The park in general is such a nice place to hang out with a cup of coffee!

  • Mount Monserrate - Mount Monserrate sits just to the side of the city. It's a great place to get some exercise in while grabbing some great views of the city. They also have cable cars you can use to travel up to the top if you don't want to walk.

Where to Stay:

  • Soy Local - Soy Local is the name of the building we were staying in. We found it on AirBnb for just $50 USD a night. It was located right next to Parque 93. We really liked this hotel. It had clean rooms and a great location with a perfect price. You can't go wrong staying here!

We really enjoyed our time here and we're so glad we went.
